When picking outfits for men’s corporate headshots, we try to strike a balance between following the rules, while also bringing our unique flavor or form of expression into your headshots or business portraits.
For the go-to corporate headshots look – a suit, shirt and tie combination, I’ve put together a quick simple and visual guide to serve as a baseline, to help you pick the best outfit not just for you, but also for your corporate headshot.
Before we begin looking into style and color combinations for corporate headshots, there is one rule that you must not break:
A suit jacket and pants that fit.
It doesn’t matter how great your color combinations are. If your clothes does not fit your form well, you’ve started off on the wrong foot.
1. White Shirt
A crisp, clean white shirt is a classic, safe and timeless look that will work for everyone. You do have some liberty when it comes to picking a tie for this look. Go with a dark suit jacket, and a tie that leans dark. Here are some examples.

Go with a tie that leans dark.
2. Powder Blue Shirt
The shirt color that favors everyone. Pair this with dark tie for contrast, or a pattern blue tie to accentuate in that lovely blue color. Go with a dark, charcoal gray or navy suit jacket. Here are some examples.

3. Blush Pink Shirt
My personal favorite. Same rules apply as with the powder blue shirt option.
4. Gray Shirt
Feel free to play with tones and shades of gray here. You can also pair your grey shirt with a tie that matches your suit jacket tone for tone. Another option is to go for simple plain black tie. A dark tie with a gray pattern is probably my favorite combination for this look.
