As a family photographer, I know for a fact that quite a lot goes into planning a family portrait session and creating those beautiful results that you desire. The good news is that these things are simple, and require very little input from you. However, they can exponentially affect the outcome of your family photography session.
I break down my entire process for you here, because I want to answer as many of your questions as I can, before you ask them.
Stay with me.
1. Your Consultation & Design Session
Portrait sessions are somewhat intimate situations, and everyone tends to be more relaxed when they’re around people they are familiar with.
Your in-person or virtual consultation & design session, helps us get to know each other a little better. We talk in detail about what your needs are, we talk about things like location options, whether you’d like help with hair and make up, wardrobe selection and styling etc.
Having your design session take place in your home, offers you convenience, and gives me the opportunity to design custom art collections that will fit your style, aesthetic and space.
If we both feel like we are a fit for each other, and I can deliver the exact results you want, we’ll take a look at our calendars and pick a date for your family portrait session.
2. Before Your Family Portrait Session
As your family photographer, it is my job to plan and take care of every detail. I will correspond with you (virtually or in person) to plan your entire wardrobe. Call, text or email anytime with your questions or concerns, and together we will address them.
If you have kids, pets, I’d love to meet them.
If we’re going to photograph you in your home, I’ll need to stop by before the day of the session, to plan and scout the perfect spots, like I would any other outdoor location.
3. The Day of
I know how nervous you might be feeling about your session. If it helps, I’m nervous too. But I’m also confident in my ability to guide and direct you, in my experience and knowledge when it comes to photographing families and kids of all ages. I know how to get the best expressions possible, and listen, kids are effortlessly cute.
We’ll make it fun for everyone, and I’ll capture your joy. Try to relax and enjoy this time with your family.
4. The Reveal and Ordering Session
No more than one week after your session, we’ll meet again in person or virtually look through your photos together, for you select however many photos you absolutely love. You can order just one photo, or you can buy them all. Whatever you do at this point is entirely up to you.
If I did my job right (and I always do), you’ll love them all. I take your special retouching requests at this point, and place the order for your prints, albums or wall art. You’ll then receive the finished digital copies of all photos you purchased, optimized and sized for your preferred social media platform, so that you can share your photos with friends and family, while you wait for the rest of your products to be delivered.
5. We Deliver (and Install) Your Artwork
And I hope you enjoy them as much as I’ve enjoyed creating them for you.
