Am I the only one who enjoys going to the dentist?
I love going to the dentist.
I look forward to laying back in that chair, covered in a warm blanket and letting my hygienist – the best dental hygienist you will ever encounter (according to Steven, my husband), go to work on me.
The feeling I have when I get up and out of the chair is akin to the one I get when I just finished giving my bathroom a thorough cleaning. I feel brand new, like my life has just begun. No kidding.
After discussing with a few different people about how I love and look forward to my dentist visits, I think I may have figured out why I love that place so much.

So here’s the gist of it.
Annie, my dental hygienist. She is so kind, and courteous, and remembers every single thing I’ve told her about me in the last 3 years since I started visiting Mercado Dental Care (formerly Scottsdale Center for Dental Health). She works very carefully and is so gentle, and when you’re with her, you get the feeling that she loves her job.
Steven once said, if Annie ever left Mercado Dental Care and went to work for a different dentist, he would follow her. And he meant every word. He hated going to the dentist until we moved in together and he started going to mine. It turns out a lot of people share his experience.
Just yesterday, while chatting with my massage therapist about my recent dentist visit, she recounted one of her experiences with a dental hygienist as a kid. That memory is the singular reason she hates going to the dentist. When I told her my experience with Annie has been nothing but great, she decided she would check them out.
Dr Karren is one of the sweetest and most empathetic people I have ever met. I distinctly recall him checking in with me every so often, whenever he was working on me, and I can’t emphasize enough, how much that alone improved my experience. I honestly look forward to just saying hello to him every time I come in.
Malinda and Brittney are always there, ready to help me figure out my co-pays and will email me the same document ten different times if I needed them to.
So hey, if you’re one of the many people who hate going to the dentist, maybe you just haven’t been as lucky as me. I hope you find a place that provides you with a better experience soon.
Good luck!
Adaeze.
